Where it all began.
Ocean Street in the CBD of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland was the site for The Circular Experiment.
In an Australian first we worked at the street and individual business level to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the application of six circular economy principles between July and December 2017.
We were only able to achieve all that we did because of connections that led to conversations, resulting in collaborations and finally a community.
A circular economy is an economic performance based model that relies on system wide innovation to reduce dependence on primary materials and energy, design out waste, extract the maximum value from materials and resources whilst in use and create new opportunities for both small and large businesses to generate economic, social and natural capital.
In Australia, the circular economy is estimated to contribute 26 billion to the economy by 2025.
“A great initiative, in one of my favourite places in the world.
